Lesson 11:    The Article II

The Empire State Building is in New York.

The definite article  the is also used with titles of things, such as buildings, rivers and oceans.

the Empire State Building    the White House

the Nile River    the Hudson River

the Atlantic Ocean    the Pacific Ocean

However the article is not used with cities or streets.

I live on Main Street.    Her apartment is on 5th Avenue.

So it is incorrect to say I live on the Main Street.

 

Lesson 12:    Verb and Noun Formation

We do the housework on Saturday morning.

Let's review some verbs and nouns to do the exercise below.

A:    Do you often go out?
B:    Very rarely. I usually stay in and watch TV. What about you?
A:    I usually go to the cinema on the weekend.

A:    Do you have a brother?
B:    No, I don't. But I have a sister.
